Acupuncture
Acupuncture
Matthew Fellner | Karen Zuidema, PhD, Lac | Michele Finley | Jin Hyun Park, MS, MSTOM, Lac | FAQs
Originated in China, acupuncture is among the oldest healing systems in the world. Its main goal is to restore your body's balance and improve your overall health. Many people see acupuncture as an "alternative medicine," something to try when nothing else has worked. At Paramus Medical and Sports Rehabilitation Center, we see acupuncture in a different light. We believe that, combined with other types of treatment, acupuncture can compliment and magnify your results with our physical therapy team, chiropractic team or massage therapy team.
Acupuncture treatments involve the insertion of hair-thin pins just below the skin, placed in very specific points to generate energies and connections throughout the body. The energies produced activate responses in your body’s immune, circulatory, nervous and endocrine systems, and help the body to heal internally. Learn more about acupuncture.
There is minimal risk of injury and virtually no side effects when administered properly. The needles are sterile, regulated by the FDA, and used only once. All of the acupuncturists who work at Paramus Medical and Sports Rehabilitation Center are licensed by the New Jersey State Medical Board to practice in-state, and are certified by a national board.
For most patients, acupuncture is a painless, comforting and restorative form of therapy. Acupuncture should never be painful, but the patient will have some sensation that is indicative of a therapeutic response.
The certified acupuncturists at Paramus Medical and Sports Rehabilitation Center are highly skilled and deliver expert care when you need it the most. See below for information on our acupuncturists:
